10 Most Amazing Mazes

Sometimes in life we just want to get lost in ourselves. Roaming through mazes and labyrinths can be exciting and a time for introspection. While life its self often offers twists, challenges and confusion, a walk through any one of the following mazes might help put things in perspective.

10. Lincoln Maze

In honor of our 16th President’s 200th birthday, Illinois has created a remarkable maze. With 28 acres and 11.1 miles of trails the tribute to Abraham Lincoln depicts various stages of his life. The hike through this mazes promises to be easier than the difficulties of the Lincoln Presidency.

9.Mega Maze

Sterling Massachusetts is home to the Davis’ Mega Maze. If you negotiate the maze once and return a second year to try again you will find the maze is completely different. Each year the Davis’ reconstructe the mega maze putting in nearly 13,000 hours of labor! Now that’s amazing!

8. It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

Forty-three acres of land at Cool Patch Pumpkins in Dixon California are dedicated to the 2009 record holder for the worlds’ largest corn maze. With tons of twists and you might need a GPS to get back out. No word on whether any children might pop out at you.

7. Far Out!

The Peace Maze has been opened since 2001. Made from 6000 yew trees, this labyrinth style maze in Northern Ireland is the largest and longest in the world. With over two miles of pathway through the nearly three acres of land, visitors will search for the center which is marked by a bell, solving the peace of the puzzle.

6. The First Waterloo

It may look like a piece of cake from here, but the Il Labirinto in Stra Italy is dubbed one of the hardest labyringths in the entire world! Legend has it that Napoleon himself got lost in the structure located on the grounds of Villa Pisani. If you find him as you roam through, let us know.

5. Cow Tested, Stoner Approved!

South-West of Berlin in a town called Marienfelde, visitors can take the high path and travel this corn and hemp (yes hemp) field. The cow-labyrinth was weeded out by Germany’s Federal Institute of Risk Assessment for educational purposes. Traveling through the cow gastrointestinal tract might be the highlight of your experience as that is the area made out of hemp.

4. Kiwi Maze

New Zealand is home to Puzzling World. The 3D Maze is comprised of unique and unusual buildings and Illusion Rooms. For those who can’t handle the challenge emergency doors allow for a quick escape, perhaps the gift shop or café. With all those crazy rooms it might feel just like home.

3. Pack a Lunch

The Longleat Hedge Maze is a little over a mile half or twisting, turning pathways of 16,000 English Yews. The three-dimensional maze has six wooden bridges where visitors can catch a sneak peak toward the center. Once there you can enter the observation tower where you can watch others trying to make their way through the hedges. No pointing and laughing at the confusion of others.

2. Geek Maze (And I LOVE IT!)

Beam me up, Scotty I can’t get out of the Maize. In a tribute to Star Trek the York Maze, made of Indian Corn (Maize) stretches through 32 acres. At some points you might feel as if you are boldly going nowhere but Tom Pearcy’s creation is without a doubt a classic.

Verizon Wireless has sponsored a Nebraska Farmer’s effort to create the world’s largest corn maze. The maze takes up 54,428 acres of Benson Farm in Denton. Cell phone reception must be great in the there!
