Top 10 Vampire Movies of All Time

Vampires are a strange type of monster. For some reason chicks dig ‘em. I don’t understand it myself. I just kind of like all the jumping around and blood sucking that goes on! I’ve got to go buy some fangs and a pogo stick… after I finish this list.

10. Bram Stoker’s Dracula

This movie was super-sensual on a lot of levels. I just can’t help but to crack up every time Keanu Reeves pops up- “DUDE! You TOTALLY have long fangs.”

9. 30 Days of Night

This vampire movie was very campy in a sort of fun loving, kill everyone kind of way. I always wondered why vamps never moved up north for an extended hunting season. Apparently I’m not the only one who thought about it.

8. Vampires

John Carpenter and James Woods. Awesome. I have no idea why I like James Woods, many of us don’t- but I do like an actor who kills vampires. Great movie for gore and a few jumps.

7. Blade

The first one. What can you do as a vampire that can withstand sunlight? Kill other vampires. If you happen to already be an accomplished martial artist, that’s even better! Wesley Snipes is outstanding as the anti-hero Blade in this action/horror movie.

6. Dracula – 1931

Some would say (myself included) that this is the pivotal vampire movie. Why? Because everyone compares all others to this movie and its star Bella Lugosi. Either “I based my Dracula off of Bella’s” or “I was avoiding the traditional portrayal of Dracula…” Not many actors have ever played one role as well as Lugosi and become such an icon on a subconscious level as this Hungarian born actor did.

5. Underworld

Yeah we all know how I feel about Underworld and its fanged, no door shutting, kind of bratty vixen played by Kate (Rowl) Beckensale, but it was a good series too!

4. Interview With a Vampire

Originally Anne Rice protested the casting of Cruise as Lestat (the possible Bi-sexual) vampire, but after screening the movie gave everyone the royal “it’s okay.” There were some homo-erotic undertones to the movie which made some people uncomfortable… but this was PBBM (Pre-Broke Back Mountain).

3. Twilight Saga: New Moon

No one can deny the power of the Twilight saga. New Moon saw impressive sales and has quite a following. So much so it can’t be denied it’s spot at #3 on our count down.

2. The Lost Boys

Damn it pains me to have to include this movie in anything. I truly truly and really do hate this movie. But it’s a popularity lives on and no one can have a vampire movie discussion without the Lost Boys being brought up…. Now they’re making Lost Boys 3… seriously.

1. Let the Right One in

This Swedish vampire film was a vamp film with a soft touch, focusing in on the relationship that develops between a human child and a vampire child. This film won a ton of international acclaim and an English remake is due out in October of 2010.

  1. HI, BONJOUR

I GUESS ‘YOU LIKE JAMES WOODS ‘ JUST BECAUSE HE IS AN OUTSTANDING ACTOR,
EVEN AS A VAMPIRE – MOST INTERESTING AMERICAN ACTOR…

    OPHELIA, West Hollywood, CA

    • wmmattler says:

James Woods IS an outstanding actor. I agree, but much like doilies and brie, it’s just not overly macho for a guy to admit…. I don’t like brie… I mean it.

  2. cris says:

whenever i see a list that puts Twilight on it you know the person doing the list knows nothing about good movies let alone good vampire movies

    • Natalie says:

I am so sick of twilight haters like you, its a great movie but if you dont like it then theres no need to tell us

      • HackerAlias says:

Fair enough if you like Twilight, but you need to understand that there are a lot of us who actually like and care about vampire films. I am really sorry, but it’s films like Twilight that will put a lot of good vampire films in the dark if they come out into cinema now.

  3. wmmattler says:

OR a person who has to give ground to make a point. Don’t blame me, blame the teenyboppers. I had to fight like hell to get the 1931 Dracula in there… your take on it?

  4. wmmattler says:

Oh I agree, there is absolutely NO artistic value in teenaged vampire soft core porn- or werewolves that look and act like they should be roadies for the Jonas Brothers. Dude, you are completely preaching to the choir. The posting was for the same demographic that stuck us all with NYSNC and Dark Shadows in the 70′s…. but the demographic is legitimate, so it has to be acknowledged. It’s unfortunate, and should someone decide to hold a DVD burning party I will BUY a copy and be there with bells on, you’ll know me, I’m the guy with the 8-ball tattoo that says “Tarantino Sucks” on his forearm.
Good post though… keep it coming Junior.

  5. akshit says:

    try THIRST a korean movie

    u’ll be drilled
    its an experience

  6. Natalie says:

I am so sick of twilight haters like you, its a great movie but if you dont like it then theres no need to tell us and… screw you

    • Tringrin says:

and to be fair, if you don’t wanna hear anybody hating Twilight,
then, nobody wants to read you love it to death cuz you have
wet fantasies with vampires which are not and just handsome actors.

  7. stefan says:

    twilite sucks.

I whas so angry that thay made the vampires sparkling in the sunlight :(
tha y burn and die in the sun. deal with it..
and both bella and edwards jsut look SICK.
well I game it a shot atleast :)

but NOSFERATU shud have bin on that place instead of twiligt
fun that the “let the right one in whas ontop :)

I also loved the TMNT movie when I whas little,

  8. Z says:

This is one terrible list for vampire movies. So many great ones got left out…Nosferatu, Salems Lot, Thirst, Blood: The Last Vampire, Vampire Hunter D, From Dusk Till Dawn, Shadow of the Vampire, Near Dark. These are all much better choices than half the ones on this list.

  9. That-Damn-Duck says:

Twilight is like getting soul-raped by a vampire camel.

    Quack™

  10. YdoUTorntME says:

I think the best review I have read was Twilight. It saved me not only money, but an hour and a half or so of valuable living time I could have spend eating my own shit. I feel sorry for those people who saw it not knowing what they were in for.

I must agree with Z near dark and from dusk till dawn are both great movies. Aswell as the great amine titles out there.

My girlfriend hates twilight as much as me and for all those Twi-Hards as it was put, Twilighting ripped off True Blood. Watch True Blood if you need vampires in a love story. There is blood, melting when staked and most important on sunshine sparkle

  11. Fatin says:

    WHERE”S NOSFERATU?
    And TWILIGHT? Vampire’s DON’T SPARKLE.

  12. surf66 says:

Dracula AD 1972……Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee are not to be missed.
    (Hammer Films)

The Fearless Vampire Killers Roman polanski directed

yes…Fatin….the bone chilling NOSFERATU…missing from this anemic list.

but “Underworld” ‘s Kate Beckensale sold me hook line and sinker

  13. Liam says:

    What a crap list!
these are all plastic movies with no talent.
What about Frank Finlay in Dracula in 1978?

    • Mark says:

      Well said, plastic crappy movies:
      1. Let The Right One In — Wake me up when it’s over.
      2. Twilight Saga — Mind bogling why would anyone fight over such boring and lame girl.
      3. Interview With a Vampire — Homosexual overtones, but, Tom Cruise is a fruit.
      4. Vampires (John Carpenter) — Just plain messed up.

  14. katie says:

I agree with a lot of them except Twilight. I do think 30 Days of Night was one of the best vampire movies I’ve actually seen because it was ACTUALLY pretty scary and the vampires were how vampires are supposed to look. Twlight ruins the whole vampire genre. Those vampires are so completely different then what you think vampires are supposed to look and act like. I mean glistening skin in the sunlight? Right.

  15. mo-chan says:

Okay, Why the F is New Moon BEFORE Bram Stokers’ Dracula, Dracula of 1931 and Interview with the Vampire?!!
This movies sucks moose balls and this list misses a lot more hotter vampire movies. How about Fright Night and The Fearless Vampire Killers?

Kuddos for Let the Right One In tho.

  16. Kt says:

LET THE RIGHT ON IN IS THE BEST!!!! great choice! but, new moon?

  17. hjro says:

Twilight on a vampire list ¬_¬

what about Nosferatu-the original vampire film
hell queen of the damned is better than twilight films.

    • Mark says:

Very true, Queen Of THe Damned is 100% better than Twilight boring trilogy.

    • Zeaks says:

Yeah I agree Queen of the damned needs to be on this list instead of Twilight. Twilight although it had vampires in it, was more of a girly teenage hearthrob movie than anything, even though the main character did make a pretty decent vampire.

  18. TJ says:

So many great underrated/underseen vampire movies. I wish they’d get more attention.

Here’s some of my favs: http://www.best5everything.com/best5ListPages/vampiremoviescleanseglitterteenangst19076.php

  19. Mark says:

LET THE RIGHT ONE IN….S U C K S. Can’t believe anyone would even think this movie was good.
Boring, un-eventful, painful to watch due to bad acting and blah story line.

  20. Dorian2 says:

Pretty sad list IMO…How’s about some love for Nosferatu and a bit of Salem’s Lot. Twilight? WTF

  21. Tringrin says:

Any Twilight movie do not deserve being in any top 10 and top 100, even, they’re not vampires, next decade they’re going to invent a movie titled “Vampires 21 Century” and plot would be literally humans with any vampiric feature more than being descendants of Vampires and anyway they’re will be called vampires, bah.

  22. Tringrin says:

    BTW

    3. Twilight Saga: New Moon
No one can deny the power of the Twilight saga. New Moon saw impressive sales and has quite a following. So much so it can’t be denied it’s spot at #3 on our count down.

bad argument, if that means any movie which sells many copies and tickets it’s great? And most of viewers are girls watching for first time a Vampire movie? If you don’t trust, just read comments like “it was my first movie, now I like vampires”.

  23. Marko says:

This list sucks so much!!! Where are masterpieces like “Fright Night”, “From dusk till dawn”, “Dracula with Christopher Lee” (!!!!) and maaaaany others!!! Come on….go to work!

  24. Mehdi Ali Kazmi says:

Wesley Snipes were simply too good in Blade. he shines in the whole movie and put his best acting out of this one. This movie is worth to watch.

  25. Koushal says:

This horror list for vampire movies are really shocking to me . I think Twilight movie does not deserve to be ranking in top-10 vampire movies.

  26. Amm says:

Great review of all the vampire movies…

  27. Dinesh Shetty says:

Underworld is really appreciable vampire movie of all the time. Filming is great and really creates horror in mind.
