Top 10: Most Lovable Pets in the Movies
Your Sponsored Top 10 List Here
We all have favorite actors and actresses, but what about Hollywood’s own pets? To share some of the infinite glory of stardom with our four legged friends, here is a quick run through of the most lovable and memorable pets seen on the silver screen.
10. Beethoven – Beethoven
How many times can this St. Bernard keep popping up? How many times can my 7 year-old watch the same movie over and over again? Good lord, it’s no wonder Charles Grodin disappeared, it might have been the only way he could get out of making these movies.

9. Doug – Up
SQUIRREL! Doug, the dog from Pixar’s UP was probably one of 2009’s best pet characters. Not only was he funny, loyal and exhibiting all the qualities you would expect from a pooch, he had an honesty that just made a lot of people want to go out and adopt a stray mutt. I have no idea what kind of mix he was, but it doesn’t matter when you consider how many hearts this dog-star stole.

8. Spike – Pet Detective (Ace Ventura)
Ace lies tied down on a raft alongside Spike, his pet monkey. Spike manages to untie the ropes and escape onto some passing tree branches, leaving his frantic master floating down the stream towards the raving falls. Classic scene!
7. Dog – Road Warrior
The dog’s name is “Dog”, a Blue Heeler. Mad Max needed a companion that would shut up for the most part, watch his back and just look damned cool! And so our first “cool” pet makes an entry in this countdown.

6. Mr. Jinx – Meet the Parents
The cat really didn’t do much. I mean no cool cat tricks or anything, but he was still funny and really lucky he didn’t get milked. Hats off to the writers for making Mr. Jinx something a little more than he actually was: a Persian Cat.

5. Milo – The Mask
It’s hard to upstage Jim Carrey, but this co-star manages just fine. How can a Jack Russell terrier that has it more together than his owner possibly be resisted?
Probably one of the highlights of this film has to be when Milo had the mask on. I still snicker about that one every time I think of my own Jack Russell.

4. Toto – The Wizard of Oz
The words “I’ll get you and your little dog too!” have withstood the test of time. Toto was small in the tricks department but big on the cuteness scale. He was one of the most behaved dogs ever to have graced the silver screen, and what most people don’t realize is he did his own stunts. Now that’s talent!

3. Rhino – Bolt
Disney is known for almost always having a plucky little sidekick for comedic relief and Rhino falls right into this category. Not only did he grab a lot of the laughs, but his plastic ball threatened to explode onto the fashion world. Okay, not really, but he was exactly what you would expect a talking hamster to sound like.

2. Lassie
Whether letting someone know that Timmy fell down the well or rounding up rustlers on the ranch, the character of Lassie has endured about five decades. The stories seem to change with each telling but somehow stay fresh. Everyone in the world knows who Lassie is, considering most people in the government could readily recognize Lassie, but can’t seem to recognize Osama Bin Laden, that’s saying something. If collies were terrorists, they would not only be easier to find, but much friendlier. I digress…

1. Mike Tyson’s Tiger – The Hangover
Something about that pet always bothered me. When everyone’s freaking out over the tiger in the bathroom, the tiger’s pretty aggressive, right? Later when Iron Mike shows the guys a surveillance tape, they’re handling the cat like a big dog on a leash. This makes me believe kitty just needed some good loving, and didn’t get it.

I find it strange that Old Yeller wasn’t on this list.
it stood between Lassie and Old Yeller
Old Yeller: Traumatizing kids since 1957.
