Top 10: Anticipated 3D Movies of 2010

With the success of Avatar and new advances in VR and 3D technology, the movie industry it headed towards being ripe with 3d Movies. The scheduled release for these movies looks to be pretty good for 2010. There are some new titles and some old character making their way back to the silver screen. So just in case you plan months in advance we bring you Top 10 Anticipated 3D Movies of 2010!

10. Yogi Bear 3D

I am really looking forward to this one. It looks like our favorite bear is back to steal some pic-a-nic baskets in 3D! No screenshots as of yet that I can find, but the voice talent looks solid as they have secured Anna Faris and Tom Cavanagh ( Observe and Report and Two Weeks respectively). Throw in Dan Aykroyd and this should be a pretty entertaining movie.

9. Piranha 3D

No screenshots on this one either, but here’s the gist of the story that we have so far; Elizabeth Shue (Adventures in Babysitting and Leaving Las Vegas) stars as a sheriff of a town plagued by prehistoric man-eating fish that threaten to chow down on everything and everyone they can. The synopsis is campy, but it could be a fun movie. Check out IMDB for more info.

8. Alpha and Omega 3D

From what I’ve read, this is part animal movie, part buddy flick and part romance. I’m not sure whether to be impressed or yack. Either way, I’m checking it out just for the curiosity factor. Hayden Panettierre (Rememeber the Titans and TV’s Heroes) and Justin Long (Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel) provide the voice talent in this one that promises to be interesting at any rate.

7. Step Up 3D

Hurray for the TWEENS! Yes, the 11-13 year old girls have yet another movie to annoy adults and biys with. Step Up 3D from Disney’s Touchstone promises to at least keep the adults busy with some dazzling 3D effects. Actually, this could be pretty cool to see once. Adam Sevani (Step Up 2) and Alyson Stoner (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody) will be twinkling toes in this one. It’s Disney, so it will do well.

It says “coming 2009″ on the poster, if in doubt, check out IMDB.

6. Alice In Wonderland

This one I am definitely looking forward to… as are most Johnny Depp fans. Depp and Burton come together again in what promises to be another brilliant collaboration. I like Anne Hathaway too. But Depp? This guy rocks at everything he’s ever been in. Still Alice in Wonderland in 3D IMAX continues Disney’s summer assault on the senses.

5. MegaMind

Dreamworks brings us more 3D summer fun with this one. This is the story of a super villain who somehow, through a comedy of errors, becomes a hero. Will Farrell, Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Tina Feye come together with director Tom McGrath (Madagascar 1 and 2) in what promises to be a hilarious superhero romp. 4. Despicable Me

Universal Studios (FINALLY SOMEONE NEW) is set to release this film about the biggest heist in history. Steve Carell (The 40 Year-Old Vigin) voices Gru, an evil villain armed with shrink rays out to steal the moon. Carell is always hilarious so I imagine this will be on many people’s must see list.

3. Friday the 13th Part 2 in 3D

That’s a lot of numbers to throw out there in a movie title, but this newly re-imagined franchise threatens more than just campers. It threatens to break the bank with blockbuster ticket sales this summer. The buzz is that this movie is slated for release in August of 2010, but I am kind of doubting it as the screenplay was not even green lighted as of October of 2009. Still, one can be optimistic….

2. Toy Story 3D

Wood and Buzz are back and so are their voices in Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 3D (trailer). This time they are all going to an orphanage and tearing up the silver screen there. In another Top 10 we speculated as to what Pixar could do to strengthen this franchise. It appears they are going to go with 3D technology and give it a good go. God knows we’ve waited long enough. I can’t wait to see the results… and all the franchise toys that will flood the market.

1. Shrek Forever After

The first Shrek movies were a blast and the fact that Dreamworks got the entire cast to return again is a testament that the folks who are making these movies must be enjoying them as well. They’re billing this as the final chapter. For once this is a franchise I will be sorry to see done. See official website.
