Top 10 Funniest Comedy Movies of 2008
When it comes to what makes people laugh, I understand it’s personal. However, just in case we share the same kind of humor, here’s a summary of what I claim the best comedy movies of 2008. If you disagree, you know what to do – either comment with your personal favorites or represent your own rankings by sending us your own top 10-lists.
1. Pineapple Express
Bizarre and serious in that funny kind of a way. The art of making people laugh of a subtle humor, just underneath the surface, the writers and actors have mastered.

2. Be Kind Rewind
Jack Black’s take on the Ghost Busters music theme makes me giggle every time. The innovative elements and creative ideas of the plot and characters is outstanding. One of Mos-Def’s greatest performances as well.

3. Zach and Miri Make a Porno
The dude behind Clerks and Jay Silent Bob, Kevin Smith has topped himself in Zach and Miri Make a Porno. An awesome and super-funny comedy about two room-mates forced to make a porno to pay the bills. The cast includes actors from The Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob and Pinapple Express. Enjoy!

4. Semi-pro
A follow up to Will Ferrell’s Talladega Nights box office hit. But it manages to tell its own story with originality in characters and plot. Ferrell is always funny but this comedy made me laugh harder than any other of his movies. A to be classic in my opinion.

5. Step Brothers
After many comments questioning why Step Brothers didn’t make the toplist I gave it one more shot. The first time I saw this comedy I was mildly impressed. However, the scene in the end when Ferrell sings Volare at the helicopter event plus when the brothers sleepwalk convinced me. Step Brothers is one of 2008′s big comedies.

6. Madagascar: Escape Africa 2
Haven’t actually seen it yet, nor do I know if it has been released on the big screens, but if it is half as good as the first Madagascar, it has earned its place on this toplist. “Physically fit, physically fit!”

7. The Yes Man
Didn’t know hearing Jim Carrey saying yes for an entire 2 hours could be this entertaining but guess what. It was!

8. You Don’t Mess with the Zohan
Not one of Adam Sandler’s finest. Actually though Happy Gilmore was better. However, the fact that they are making fun of Israel and the middle east, eating hummus to everything is a great step in the making comedy without constrains.

9. Forgetting Sara Marshall
If it were not for the romance in this movie, it would rank higher. Regardless, a great movie, a masterpiece of awkwardness I am so found of, that so easily occurs in long-time relationship break-ups.

10. Tropic Thunder
Watched this in pretty bad quality but still managed to find some priceless comedy pieces. Directed by Ben Stiller, Tropic Thunder tells a story of three actors to film a war-movie in Vietnam and ends up fighting a real war against local drug lords.

This list is a joke. Forgetting Sarah Marshall and 8! and Tropic thunder at 9!. Be Kind Rewind was a great movie but does not compare to Forgetting Sarah Marshall. If you think Zohan and Semi Pro, along with Yes Man were funny movies, I think you need to get diagnosed with mental retardation.

hey all, thanks for commenting. As I said in the intro, this top 10 list is highly personal, why so many of you have suggested other variation of the list. However, all these movies are great comedies and not better or worse than any other listed movie. I appologize about Juno, squezzed in that movie beacuse I find it awesome and thought few would recocgnize its reselase date in 2007.

Epic movie was totally perfetic. I went to the movies to see it and i was brought to bordom from the second it started. Also semi pro was crap as well wasnt one bit funny.

be kind rewind was out of this world funny. It was enjoyable from start to finish . Jack black was hilerious. If you havnt seen it go buy it ,its definatly one to add to the dvd collection. 7 out of 10 stars.

if you didn’t like Be Kind Rewind you probably do not have enough IQ or movie experience. You are the type of person who probably can’t wait for the next Renee Zelweger RomCom.
Tropic Thunder is by far the best comedy of 2008. I suggest a re-watch in good quality. It had everything: jokes, actors, plot, cinematography, pace, action, and did i mention jokes?

for Zack and Miri, it wasn’t the ‘guys behind Pineapple Express’ who did this movie. Just because it has seth rogen and craig robinson in it, peope automatically assume that its a Judd Apatow movie. It ain’t. This is a Kevin Smith movie, which is why it has the guys from Clerks in it.

The characters seem better developed then the first time and the story lines are stronger.

Jim Carrey shines as always in the movie “The Yes Man”. When I was watching this movie, I spent most funniest moments of my life Fun to Watch.
