10. The Ghost Whisperer

As LeTune puts it “the intro is much better than the series”. I’ve taken dumps better than this lame series, but yeah, the intro is pretty cool.

9. The Pacific

The Pacific – the continuation of Steven Spielberg’s and Tom Hanks’ hit series Band of Brothers tells the story of American troops during their fighting in the Pacific. While BoB were better, the intro of The Pacific is magnificent. Check it out below!

8. Desperate Housewives

It is uncertain how well this opening credits fits the nature of the show, but regarding its quality there is no doubt. Along the same style as Carnivale and Ghost Whisperer, this intro is far from ordinary.

7.Farscape

One of the strangest damned shows Sci-Fi ever came up with (and that’s saying a lot). Still the intro was trippy- like a 70’s acid kind of trippy. I’m pretty sure it was the weird song.

6. Carnivale

Too bad this series never made it as far as it should have. It was just too damned strange for most. The intro captures that perfectly and gives a real sense of not only the story, but the time in which it is set.

5. Caprica

Syfy’s new series is a spin off of the Battlestar Galactica series, with a definite Days of Our Lives Twist. Regardless of your feelings on sci-fi OR soap operas, this intro was elegantly done.

4. Mad Men

This intro is nearly a throwback to some of the intros from the 60s and early 70s. I know that’s probably not cool to say, but look at the intro to The Saint and in a lot of ways there are some parallels… artistically speaking.

3. Dexter

Yeah, the first time I saw this I was so disturbed I skipped breakfast and shaving for like a week.

2. True Blood

Regardless of my personal programming preferences, this intro has some “Art Street Cred” as far as intros go.

1.Fringe

Still in the same vein as the X-files, this is another “Artsy” FOX effort. I like it; it explains the show in 24 seconds which gives me just enough time to say “no thank you” and turn the channel… if I were so inclined.

Mr. Lee’s characters have to come to grips with all the same character flaws and challenges all us face. Only these guys get to fly. Here are 10 Iron Man facts for the movie goer. This one’s for you Stan.

10. Premier

The first appearance of Iron Man was in 1963. He debuted in Tales of Suspense #39. It wasn’t until 1968 that Iron Man #1 hit the shelves. Tales of Suspense is valued at nearly $7,000 while Iron Man #1 in mint condition is worth close to $600.

9. Assistants

In addition to the lovely and unshakable Pepper Pots, Tony Stark also employed an ex-boxer turned chauffeur named Harold “Happy” Hogan.

While this character didn’t play much of a role in the first Iron man movie, he was a major character in the comic story line.

8. Nick Fury

Nick Fury is a semi-super hero (he’s like 100 years old but NOT a mutant like Wolverine), head of S.H.I.E.L.D and probably one of the coolest cigar chompin’, one-eyed, spandex wearing, gunslingest characters in the Marvel Universe.

He’s important to the entire story line for the lead-in to the Avengers movie slated for release in 2012 so get used to him.

When casting it was obvious that a larger than life actor would be needed to play Fury and make it stick throughout several movies.

David Hasselhoff didn’t do the trick in the Nick Fury movie, comic fans everywhere are hoping that Samuel L. Jackson can. I’m betting so, but I miss the cigar.

7. Iron WHO?!?

A Marvel/DC amalgamation known as Amalgam Comics was introduced in 1996. Both Marvel and DC published these 12 books (6 apiece). This was done again in 1997.

The amalgamation of Iron Man and Green Lantern was known as Iron Lantern and the trademark gold and orange armor was traded in for a green and black combo. Ryan Reynolds (who played Deadpool in the Wolverine movie) will star as Green lantern in the upcoming 2011 release.

6. Human Flaw #1

The character of Tony Stark has battled alcoholism several times in the last 47 years of existence.

While using repulsers while under the influence is not strictly illegal, flying while intoxicated might land you a job with a major airline.

5. On TV

In 1966 there was a limited run of Iron Man cartoons. There were 12 episodes but the show was not picked up for a second season. You can tell by the quality why.

4. Human Flaw #2

Women. Though the tension between Pepper Pots and Tony Stark was always present, the two never acted upon it. However there was a long list of women that Stark was involved with.

Though he defeated villain after villain, it was in the war of the heart that Iron Man was proven to be a softy.

One of Stark’s love interests was the Black Widow (played by Scarlet Johansen) who will be appearing in this summer’s Iron Man 2.

3. Super Temp Service

During a bout with alcoholism that progressed to the point where Tony Stark could not be effective as Iron Man, James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Played by Terrence Howard in Iron Man and by Don Cheadle in Iron Man 2) took on the role.

Again, Tony drunk, and you think you have problems?

2. Loses At Awards Too?

In 2009 Batman, Hancock and Iron Man were nominated for the People’s Choice Awards. The category? Best Superhero of 2009.

Batman took the honor and had I known about it before hand I would have picketed the awards myself. I demand a recount. Batman? Seriously? NO! I have to wonder if it was enough to drive Stark back to drinking though.

1. Downey Jr. in 4 More Movies

The last fact is Robert Downey Jr is slated to play Iron Man in at least four more movies; Captain America, Thor, Iron Man 3 and the Avengers. It looks like the two will forever be linked, which suits me just fine.

10. Welcome to Marlboro Country

Let’s start with an oldie. The classic campaign against Marlboro’s “Welcome to Marlboro Country, was one of the first anti-smoking ad campaigns to get wide-spread attention. Primarily for its creative interpretation of Marlboro Country. Another famous example you might recollect is the photo of a graveyard, titled “Welcome to Marlboro Country”.

This tattoo by artist Alain-head is a great example of fine-line and grayscale tattooing. I like how the artwork seems have a bit of motion to it…

9. Christ

Yeah, the Christ tattoo ranks right up there with pin up girls and “MOM” on your forearm; it’s a stereotype not likely to go away. This piece by Darrin White is a good example though and has most likely made a lot of Catholic Biker Rebels pretty jealous.

8. Mt. Dew

I love Mt. Dew! I dunno if I will still love it next year or when my teeth are all gone from being a Dew-A-Holic, so maybe a tattoo is out of the question. Still if you’re passionate enough about your beverages….  should get a Budweiser tattoo. Hmmmm

7. Seal of Approval

This tat by Resat Gul has a 3D quality to it and detail level that makes it hard not to take seriously. Awesome job, no doubt several sessions were needed to complete this fine piece of art.

6. Ron Burgundy???

There is no way we could possibly leave this one off. Someone somewhere has a warped sense of humor. I might consider this as a draw on or a henna thing, but as a permanent tattoo? Someone has some stones…

5.  You Gotta Laugh

While some people are pulling their hair out and worrying over small things, small amputees are laughing at life as it comes. I have no idea who this is or who did the art, but the spirit of this individual shines through. Good job whoever you are.

4. BOOOUUUAAA

I got the heebee-geebees when I saw this one, but no can deny the realist 3D aspects of this tattoo. I wonder how many times this guy gets pounded on the back during an outing to the beach?

3. ROCK ON!!!

The artis on this was Laya Hege. We highly recommend checking out her website. If you’re ever in the Gainesville, Ga area stop in and say hi. Instead of getting the word “MOM” tattooed on your arm you might be able to schedule an appointment to get mom’s face tattooed there instead. Don’t forget to say who sent ya.

2. Wolf Back

This tattoo by Ion has the detail to be in any Tattoo Top Ten! If you look closely you will see that it is an entire back piece. The time it took to do this tat must have been crazy!

Okay I’ve seen dragons and mother-inlaws ripping through the skin on tattoos before, but this one takes the cake. I have no idea WHO did this, but if anyone knows please leave a comment. I’d like to book a session.

Now that is some product! Not only do you get curves it turns you white!? What the hell happened here? It might be a T-shirt, it might be another body. I don’t know, the the contrast is obvious.

3. Bermuda Triangle Effect

Man Overboard! They were sure Steve was there just a minute ago. This is crazy, why take ole Steve out? The Sun has a lot to learn about ripping people off. I thought Steve was way more interesting than the other guys.

In the transition between the LP and CD, a middle format seems to have been lost. No worries, we found it.

A black guy in a suit simply didn’t fit the corporate profile so instead, a no necked white guy was inserted.

10. Guitar Hero

This is a nice replica of a ‘82 Legocaster made famous by Motley Crue in their video Dr. Stackgood. No seriously though, this guitar, like many other creations in this top10, is to scale.

9. Lego Giraffe

As I said, to scale folks. This huge giraffe no doubt took forever to build and who knows how many hot pockets and gallons of Mt. Dew were consumed during its construction. The mind is boggled at the sheer volume of bad for you food that went into this model.

8. Lego Mount Rushmore

This famous monument that has been Legoized (I own this word Sparky, back off) is a great example of that. The detail is impressive right down to Washington’s huge, drive-in movie lookin’ forehead.

7. Lego Cello

This cello is an interesting Lego creation. I like it! I’m just wondering something though, if these guys can build all this great stuff, could they build themselves a girlfriend? Maybe they already have…hmmmm.

6.  Lego PC

I love the detail on the tower and the realistic way the screen portrays most of Microsoft’s software; unreadable. Still, this one left me rubbing my eyes a bit can calling BS until I saw the mouse. Then I was a little disappointed.

5.  Lego Crazy Yellow Guy

I have no idea what the concept of this piece is. Since when did Lego become art? I’m willing to bet cash money a German did this one; it’s just that strange. We’re going to research this one and get back with you sometime soon.

4. Lego Converse All-Stars

The classic All-Stars shoe model by Converse fits perfectly as a Lego creation.

3. Lego Sports Arena

When it comes to creative Lego creations, the rule of thumb is the bigger the better. So, by the book, this small project turned out quite impressive.

2. Lego Formula 1

This might be the only way I would ever be able to afford a Formula 1 car. Since it is made out of Lego’s though I could probably afford the gas for it as well.

1. Lego Robot

This is astonishing. If you look closely you can recognize small parts from traditional Lego kits, but it’s the application. This guy may only be 4″ tall but he looked like he could kick your butt!
